The Technology of Crooms Academy

LaptopsA unique feature of an education at Crooms is the use of technology in every classroom. Students are issued a laptop for their use throughout the year. The laptop, depending on the grade of the student, is a Dell Latitude D600, D610, D620, or a D630.

Not only is every student issued a Dell laptop but access to the internet and network resources is given via a wireless network. The entire campus is enhanced with 802.11g wireless so that students can access anything they need without the worry of carrying around wires that could easily get damaged. The laptops that are given to the students come fully loaded with all software and hardware that the student will need. A power block is also included so that the student can charge his or her laptop at home and use it wherever they need. When the laptop gets damaged or is in need of any repair, a laptop repair form is required to be sent to the technical administrators. The technical staff is willing to repair any issues that the student has with the laptop. Simply drop the laptop off at Laptop Central at the appropriate time and the laptop will be returned soon.

In every classroom there is a multitude of high tech educational tools. These include: projectors, projection screens and Smart Boards. We have a partnership with Dell Computers who supply us with the majority of our computers. We encourage you to take a tour of Crooms Academy of Information Technology to get a full taste of all the technological benefits we offer. For more information about the technology classes that are available please visit our academics site.

To supply students with the speed and efficiency that the student might need, desktop computers are provided for all of the technology classes. There are 10 seperate computer labs designated for the technology classes. In all classrooms there are at least 2 desktop computers available for use by the students if they need them. All of the desktops are hardwired into the network to ensure that bandwidth requirements are met.
